The word pâté is used today as a general category — a broad term covering many styles of the same French tradition. The finer distinctions usually come down to texture, format, and how it's served:
- Mousse describes a refined, very smooth, creamy, and spreadable preparation.
- Country or Coarse Cut styles are made with a coarser grind, served as cubes or slices.
- Terrine historically referred to the earthenware container in which the pâté or mousse was baked. Today, it describes a loaf shape made from any meat, poultry, game, vegetable, or seafood mixture.
Remember to let the pâté, terrine or mousse come to room temperature before serving for optimal texture and flavor. This will help bring out its full flavor and make it easier to spread. Enjoy!
When it comes to charcuterie, suggestions are endless. Here are a few examples of excellent
accompaniments and serving suggestions:
- Display for a tasteful appetizer on a traditional charcuterie board with some cheeses,
Three Little Pigs Jambon de Paris, Cured Meats, Cornichons, Olives Vertes Lucques and Petits Toasts. - Use as a filling for savory pastries, such as vol-au-vent or puff pastry cups.
- Pack in a picnic basket with some French baguette, cheeses, fruits and wine.
- Serve with a crudité platter full of fresh vegetables sticks for a healthy starter.
- Use as a spread on bagel, bread, crackers or in recipes such as crostini, tarts, etc...
- Add as a topping in salads for added flavor and protein.
Carefully open your Pâtés, Mousses, and other Charcuterie according to packaging instructions. Arrange the Pâtés and Mousses on your board, then fill in the gaps with sliced Cured Meats and Petits Toasts. Add a few Cornichons and Olives, and voilà — you're ready to enjoy a Three Little Pigs French feast.
We do not recommend freezing pâté products as freezing can negatively impact the texture and flavor of these products. If you want to enjoy pâtés, mousses, and terrines at their best, it's usually best to store them in the refrigerator and consume them within a few days of purchase.
Yes, we do! All of our pâtés and mousses are gluten-free, with the exception of Mousse Truffée. We also offer an organic option — Organic Pâté de Campagne — for customers looking for certified organic charcuterie.
order
If you're placing an order for a holiday event, we recommend ordering at least 10 days in advance — holiday slots fill up quickly. Please note that we ship only on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure your order travels through the cold chain without sitting over a weekend. For example, for Christmas delivery, your order must be placed by December 14th at the latest.
If you need to add/remove a product, change the quantity, add a note, or change the shipping address, you should contact Customer Service immediately. Provided your order has not already been packed and/or left our facility, we will make every effort to accommodate your request.
We want you to love each product that is selected in our Bundles. If you have an allergy or a particular item that you do not want us to include in your order, please let us know after purchase by forwarding your confirmation email to customer support with your request. We can swap out any item but at this time we cannot change your order before purchase.
All perishable items should be stored at a temperature of 38F. Our shelf stable items (8oz Saucissons, Petits Salamis and Accompaniments) are safe to consume above this temperature. During the fall and winter months, you should not have this issue so do not worry!
- If your gel packs arrive melted but the inside of your box is still cool to the touch: the products are safe to eat.
- If you order during the spring and summer and the
inside of your package has completely melted and/or the contents are room temperature: discard your perishable items and immediately let us know!

Your order can be delivered Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday delivery available in some areas served by UPS Ground. Please note that delivery days may be affected by UPS holidays or service blackout dates.
Your order will be handpicked from the stock kept in our cold storage. It will be carefully packaged in an insulated box with reusable ice/gel packs designed to keep your products cold inside and in good condition for up to 72 hours (approximately 3 days).
We ship all our orders via UPS. When your order is marked as fulfilled, you will receive an email with the tracking number. Please make sure your email address that you used to place the order is the one that you use to keep track of online orders, so you do not miss it!
A few possibilities: your package may not have been scanned by UPS yet, or UPS may still be in the process of updating their tracking system. After you receive your shipping confirmation email, it can sometimes take a few hours — occasionally up to 24 hours — for tracking information to appear or to reflect the latest status of your shipment.
If your tracking still hasn't updated after 24 hours, please reach out to us at help@village-gourmet.com and we'll look into it.
